Christina Grimmie: Mourned, Remembered as "Angel, Beloved Friend"

The music world is recovering from a stunning tragedy this morning. On Friday night, The Voice alumna  Christina Grimmie was killed in Orlando when a man approached her after a concert and simply opened fire. Grimmie was 22 years old. According to multiple outlets, Grimmie had just finished a show with pop rock band Before You Exit at the Plaza Live when she and the band’s members lined up for an autograph session. Soon afterward, a gunman with two weapons walked up and shot Grimmie. The artist’s brother quickly tackled the shooter, who turned a gun on himself and committed suicide. He is being hailed as a hero for saving other lives, but he could not save his sister: Grimmie was taken to a local hospital and died of her injuries early Saturday morning. In response to the tragedy, the official The Voice Twitter account sent the following message about the 2014 contestant: There are no words. We lost a beautiful soul with an amazing voice. Our hearts go out to the friends, fans and family of @TheRealGrimmie. Grimmie was signed to Island Records and was working on an album at the time of her death. The band tweeted early Sunday morning about Grimmie: “Christina was such a loving, caring, beautiful person with the biggest heart. She was an absolutely incredible musician and an even better friend.” The group referred to Grimmie as an “angel, sister and a beloved friend” and added: “We are so saddened by her passing and are completely heartbroken. Words fail to describe how much Christina means to all of us.” “She was always a constant beam of light and energy into the hearts of everyone around her. Christina Grimmie Auditions on The Voice “Her care-free spirit and her laughter constantly lit up every room she entered and she always had this glisten in her eyes which was evident in her faith. “While we know there is no sort of feeling that can replace the joy Christina brought into our lives, we know she is glistening from up in Heaven and shining down on all of us.” In conclusion, the band Tweeted: “Please join us in keeping Christina’s family as we know Jesus said, ‘In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.’ “She and her talent will be missed by us all.” We send our heartfelt condolences to Christina’s family members, friends and loved ones. Added a rep for the young singer: It is with a heavy heart that we can confirm that Christina has passed and went home to be with the Lord. She was shot at her show in Orlando, and unfortunately didn’t survive the gun shot wounds. We ask at this time that you respect the privacy of her family and friends in their time of mourning. Game of Thrones Season 6 Episode 8 Photos: Tyrion Looks Troubled

We're officially in the homestretch for Game of Thrones Season 6, and if even one of the fan theories about the upcoming episodes is accurate, we should be in for quite the finale. Folks are predicting the deaths of hated villains, and unexpected returns for characters long thought dead . (Why not? We already had one of those on last week's episode !) Clearly, anything goes in this post-book world we're living in, so we'll limit our speculation to Sunday's episode, “No One.” Tyrion will return after a two week hiatus, and he'll look vaguely troubled about something. Call us psychic! Watch Game of Thrones online to get caught up in time for the beginning of what's sure to be thrilling end. 1. Troubled Tyrion Tyrion looks less than thrilled in this photo. And he’s one of the characters who’s actually managed to improve his situation this season! 2. Jaime in a Jam Looks like a bad week for the Lannisters. Jaime seems vaguely pissed too. Of course, he has to deal with the Freys and Brynden Tully, so we can’t really blame him. 3. Cersei and The Mountain Cersei has the undead Mountain as her protector. So she has reason to smile – just don’t expect her to do so. 4. Tommen on the Iron Throne Looks like we’re in for lots of Lannister angst this week. Sure, Tommen’s on the Iron Throne, but heavy is the head that wears the crown, as they say. 5. It’s Lancel Lannister! Did we mention that this appears to be a Lannister-heavy episode? Sure, he’s “Brother Lancel” these days, but deep down, he’s still a Lannister. 6. Another Red Priestess! They’re everywhere these days! This one doesn’t have a name yet, but she’s played by actress Melanie Liburd. View Slideshow

Chris Brown SUPER Stoned, Stopped By Cops in Amsterdam!

Chris Brown partying and getting high in Amsterdam is not a shock. It's legal to smoke marijuana there, so Breezy partaking in the local culture really isn't even a big deal. It is not legal, however, to drive while under the influence – or to drive a motorcycle without a license plate. But after a coffee house smokeout session, Brown hopped on a dirt bike and drove around the city, only to be stopped by local police, which was caught on video by TMZ. The weed must've really chilled out Brown, who we all know has displayed violent tendencies in the past, because he was cool as a cucumber throughout the entire ordeal. His friend tried to explain that Brown was “one of the most famous rappers,” but the cops there had no idea who he was – which might've actually worked in his favor considering his past brush-ups with the law. The officer told Brown and his entourage that they'd be slapped with a fine and couldn't drive any further, and Brown was surprisingly calm. “That's fine,” he told them. “We'll get the van to come get us.” And in a move that made us wonder if this was the real Chris Brown or some sort of imposter, he even thanked the cop for a job well done. “Thank you for doing your job, sir, appreciate it,” he said without a lick of sarcasm, and even invited the officer to attend his show the following night. “They're nicer than LAPD. I've been on pavement,” he told his friends. When the authorities told him he'd have to go down to the station to pay a fine for driving without plates, he was good with that, too.  “No problem, sir,” he said, then later complimented the man's jacket. Looks like a high Chris Brown is a very, very nice Chris Brown. Later, the rapper posted videos from the station to his Instagram account, calling the police “cool as shit.” TMZ also caught videos of Chris smoking a joint just before getting on the bikes, and of a local woman complaining about his driving as he just sits there grinning from ear to ear. Perhaps his charm got him out of the higher (no pun intended, but it works) crime of driving under the influence. Either way, it's quite the contrast to last week's TMZ vid in which we saw an angry  Brown stomping on a man's head during a concert. Something seems fishy, though. These Amsterdam videos are eerily clear and shot quite close up. Were they somehow staged? It's hard to know, but we're fairly certain they incited a couple eye rolls from Brown's baby mama Nia Guzman , who has been warring with her ex over social media and recently slammed him as an “Instagram dad.” All we know is if we ever have a run-in with Breezy, we hope he's high when it occurs.

Amina Blue: 11 Hot Photos of Tyga’s New Lady!

It's been roughly one month since we learned that  Kylie Jenner and Tyga broke up . Since then, it didn't take long for both parties to be linked romantically to other new boos. Just days after we learned of the breakup, Kylie was reportedly seen  kissing rapper Ty Dolla Sign  at a club, but shortly thereafter was seen on numerous occasions with another rapper, PartyNextDoor. In a few short weeks,  Kylie and PartyNextDoor have already gotten serious , and she's even allowed him to post her pics on Snapchat and Instagram. By contrast, Tyga was spotted at a concert with Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star Karlie Redd and has also been linked to British model Demi Rose . While we haven't heard much about Tyga and either of these women of late, the rapper just posted a new sultry pic of a new lady to Instagram. Her name is Amina Blue, and she's – prepare yourself for a shocker – a model. But this isn't just any model, it turns out. She's a Yeezy model – that's right, Blue is a fashion muse for Kylie's brother-in-law, Kanye West. Would it hurt these people to date outside their inner circle? Sheesh. Anyway, Tyga was on a Jamaican vacay when he shared a pic of Blue looking camera-ready in a plunging silk blouse and bikini bottoms. Is he trying to make Kylie jealous? Or are things actually serious enough between these two to be Instagram official? Whatever the case, let's get to know this mystery lady. 1. Tyga shared this pic of Amina Blue to Instagram The two are in Jamaica, clearly having fun in the sun together. 2. Amina shared her own Jamaican pic to Instagram Amina posted this pic just a few hours before she appeared on Tyga’s Instagram. 3. Here’s Amina wearing a Pablo jacket Amina is a model for Kanye West’s fashion line. There are a lot of models out there, and Tyga had to pick one connected to Kylie’s family? 4. Who does she remind you of? Like most of Tyga’s paramours, Amina bears a striking resemblance to Kylie. 5. Yep, she looks a lot like Kylie Duh. 6. Here’s the requisite butt shot Enjoy, butt people. Kevin James Loibl Identified as Christina Grimmie Murderer

Friday night, a gunman took the life of Christina Grimmie , a 22-year-old singer and finalist of The Voice season 6. The shooting took place just after a concert in Orlando, Fla., where Grimmie opened for the band Before You Exit.  Police have now identified the man as Kevin James Loibl, a 27-year-old resident of St. Petersburg, Fla. Officials believe Loibl traveled two hours to Orlando specifically with the intention of killing Grimmie. He was armed with two handguns and a hunting knife, according to authorities. Grimmie was signing autographs during a meet-and-greet after the show when Loibl approached and shot her. Grimmie’s brother Marcus tackled the gunman, who then shot and killed himself. However, suicide may not have been part of Loibl’s original plan. Police say Loibl had made plans to return to St. Petersburg after the show, suggesting he thought he might get away with murder. The singer was rushed to the hospital following the attack and later died of gunshot wounds. A motive is still unknown, but in a press conference Saturday morning, police said Loibl appeared to be a “deranged fan.” They say they are searching his phone and computer and hope to uncover more details shortly. A number of stars and supporters have spoken out against the senseless violence against what was once a promising young singer: View Slideshow: Christina Grimmie Shooting Death: Stars Pay Tribute to The Voice Alum

Grimmie’s videos have been viewed more than 142 million times by fans eager to see the 17-year-old’s reworked covers of current pop songs. “It started out for fun,” Grimmie said about posting videos. “Even though singing is what I want to do, I started out like, ‘Hey, lets try this out’ kind of thing, and then it just grew into something bigger, and that’s why I’m here.” Of course, YouTube has also been a career starting point for a few other newbies on the scene, like Justin Bieber and divisive singer Rebecca Black, who gained notoriety with her infectious “Friday.” How does Grimmie feel about being compared to Black? “Comparisons are comparisons, and they’re gonna happen.” Grimmie said. “If you want to compare me to Rebecca Black, go ahead. I’m sure she’s a great girl. I don’t know her, but you know comparisons happen. … They can compare me to whoever … Batman! Selena Gomez Is ‘Doing Well,’ Says Tour Opener Christina Grimmie

Grimmie tells MTV News how Gomez’s parents discovered her on YouTube. By Christina Garibaldi Christina Grimmie Photo: MTV News Selena Gomez gave everyone a scare on Friday when she was hospitalized for nausea and a headache after an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” Among those anxiously asking after her health was Gomez’s pal and the opening act on her upcoming tour, Christina Grimmie, who is happy to report that the singer is doing fine. “I texted her and asked if she was OK,” Grimme told MTV News on Monday (June 13). “I talked to her mom and [she] said she’s doing well.” Grimmie has become a close friend of both Gomez and her family ever since the Disney star’s parents came across Grimmie’s YouTube channel. The 17-year-old up-and-comer’s covers of pop songs from Lady Gaga to Nelly have made her an Internet sensation — her videos have been viewed more than 142 million times to date. But after Selena’s stepdad, Brian Teefey, messaged Grimmie’s brother, her career began to take off for real. “My brother texted me during math class and said, ‘OK, so I think Selena’s parents are trying to contact you,’ ” she recalled. “Obviously, my first reaction was like, ‘Come on now,’ but it was from Selena’s [YouTube] channel. So we got together, and that’s how I got hooked up with her.” Now, Gomez’s parents, Mandy and Brian Teefey are Grimmie’s managers, her debut EP, Find Me , drops via iTunes at midnight on Monday, and she’s slated to hit the road next month with Selena Gomez & the Scene and All Star Weekend for a summer tour. “My sound right now is pop-synthy-dance. I’m very much a rocker chick; I like to throw in some rock,” Grimmie said of her album. “Hopefully, my sound will evolve into something even bigger and better, but right now I’m thrilled with my album.” And while her career gets going, Grimmie is still looking to Selena as an example of how to handle the early stages of fame. “She’s been great,” Grimmie gushed of Gomez. “I can’t explain it — she was in my place at one point, but what I’ve learned from her is, just to keep going.” Related Artists Selena Gomez
