Many understandably believed this incident was the tip of the iceberg and the nail in the coffin for Jenelle Evans and her partner of several turbulent years. Not necessarily. Things haven’t been good, but they’re very much together. The latest drama between Evans and Griffith started when they got into an argument about the their infamous, and explosive engagement trip last month. “Jenelle and Nathan were arguing about the St. Thomas drama with his friends,” the source says, and he acted out, messaging girls to get a rise out of her. Then it turned into Nathan hollering at girls to piss Jenelle Evans off, and getting carried away “being overly friendly with random fans online and girls from high school.” We’ve all been there, are we right THGers? (We hope we’re wrong.) When Evans first learned about his messages to Stevie Ryan – it’s not clear how she and Nathan linked up online – she became angry to say the least. “Jenelle saw those messages before they were posted online,” the source says. “Jenelle stayed at her friend’s house with Kai for the night down the road.” Despite her man’s immature and bizarre behavior, the mother of Kaiser, 7 months (with Nathan), and Jace, 5 (with Andrew Lewis), forgave him, and fast . It’s no biggie.” “Jenelle hates Stevie – not Nathan,” the source continues. The 29-year-old Stevie Ryan, of the online program Stevie TV , notoriously “hates all of the Teen Moms. She’s just an Internet wannabe famous b!tch.” The source also claims that Griffith’s allegations about Evans’ erratic behavior, as made to Ryan in the conversations she published, just aren’t true. “Jenelle didn’t get violent nor did she hit a wall,” the source says. “Nathan just said that because he was mad. Nathan apologized to Jenelle for this.” “Nathan just says things when he’s mad at Jenelle, that’s all. And she told him it would best if he just stayed offline, so he deactivated his Twitter for now.” “They are definitely not breaking up and never did.” Indeed, Griffith’s Twitter is down and Jenelle’s Instagram is stunningly set on private as of this posting, although she is still Tweeting, because Jenelle. Brian Williams: Lying About SEAL Team 6, Berlin Wall and Pope John Paul II?

Earlier this week, Brian Williams was suspended for six months from the NBC Nightly News after being accused of misrepresenting an incident that occurred while he was covering the Iraq War in 2003. In the weeks since the news of the scandal first broke, the beloved anchor’s credibility has come under attack and Williams has been accused of lying about everything from contracting dysentery to watching bodies float past his hotel after Hurricane Katrina. Now, that the floodgates have opened, new allegations against Williams seem to surface daily, and today, at least three different accusers have come forward claiming that the the iconic newsman fabricated various events: First, the Huffington Post published an interview with former Navy SEAL Brandon Webb, who claims that Williams’ was lying when he claimed to have been embedded with SEAL Team 6: “My initial reaction is that it sounds completely preposterous,” Webb says. “There’s a healthy dislike toward embedded journalists in the SEAL community. And especially at SEAL Team 6.” SEAL officials confirmed that their teams do not work with embedded journalists under any circumstances. One spokesman also expressed doubts about Williams’ claim that a member of Team 6 sent him a piece of the helicopter that crashed during the mission to assassinate Osama bin Laden. In addition to that accusation, Williams has been accused of lying about being “at the Brandenburg Gate the night the [Berlin Wall] came down.” Williams arrived in Berlin one day after the historic event. Since he likely would have witnessed some of the wall’s physical removal, he might be technically able to say he was there when it came down, but the comment still seems like an intentional attempt to deceive. Finally, CNN is reporting that Williams may have embellished an encounter with Pope John Paul II that took place while he was a college student in 1979. Williams first claimed that he “shook hands” with the Pope, but later elaborated that they shared a brief interaction, during which he was blessed by the Pontiff. Again, not the sort of thing that would be terribly incriminating on its own, but considering all when combined with the other accusations against Williams, stories like that may make it difficult for him to ever return to the job that made him a household name: 15 Celebrity Scandals That Rocked 2014 1. Pope Francis on Gays: Who Am I to Judge?

Pope Francis had a busy week in Brazil, visiting slums and prisons, blessing the Olympic flag and bringing three million people to mass on Sunday. But it was on the plane back to Rome where the newly-anointed pontiff took questions from reporters and made perhaps his biggest headline of the trip. According to the Wall Street Journal , he was asked about homosexuality, the reported “gay lobby” and the topic of gay priests in the Catholic Church. Here is how Pope Francis, 76, broached the delicate, hypothetical question of how he would respond to finding out that a cleric in his ranks was gay. “Who am I to judge a gay person of goodwill who seeks the Lord?” the pontiff said, speaking in Italian. “You can’t marginalize these people.” The Pope noted that he has not encountered significant resistance to reform, and joked that if there is a “gay lobby” he hasn’t yet seen it on anyone’s ID cards. Father James Martin, S.J., who is an admirer of Francis, said that the pontiff’s comment about gay people is consistent with the rest of his papacy. “One of Francis’ hallmarks is an emphasis on mercy, which you see in that response. That mercy, of course, comes from Jesus. And we can never have too much of it.” Predecessor Pope Benedict XVI signed a document in 2005 that said men with deep-rooted homosexual tendencies should not be priests. Francis has been much more conciliatory, as evidenced by these remarks. While stressing Catholic teaching that calls for homosexuals to be treated with dignity, Francis took issue with reporting on alleged Vatican gay sex scandals. One of Francis’ aides was allegedly investigated in a sex scandal, and rumors that Pope Benedict is gay surfaced shortly after his abrupt resignation. Francis took journalists to task for reporting on such matters, saying the allegations concerned matters of sin, not crimes like sexually abusing children. He denied wrongdoing on his aide’s part, and noted that in general, whenever someone sins and confesses, God not only forgives but forgets. “We don’t have the right to not forget,” he said.

CBS: Even With Susan Boyle ‘Warm-Up Act’ Pope Still Couldn’t Pull In A Big Enough Crowd

Reporting on Pope Benedict’s visit to the UK on Friday’s CBS Early Show, correspondent Mark Phillips noted how 65,000 people attended a Thursday outdoor mass in Scotland, but observed: “…it was only about a quarter of the size of the crowd Pope John Paul drew to the same park on his visit 28 years ago. And this crowd had a much better warm-up act…TV talent show star…Susan Boyle.” On Thursday , correspondent Richard Roth touted low turnout predictions during the Papal visit: “Some Church officials this morning were already lowering expectations, saying seats were still unsold for several outdoor events.” Phillips described the trip as “A test of whether Pope Benedict can get his message across over the background noise of the Church’s child abuse scandal. And that test gets harder as time goes on.” He went on to observe “This Pope finds himself with an ironic challenge, he bemoans the weakening role of religion in everyday life, yet it is the Church’s very own public struggle with its child-molesting priests that is helping to drive people away.” Phillips concluded his report by highlighting the Pope’s critics: “And, of course, the protesters against child abuse, for gay rights and other issues, promise to follow him wherever he goes.” On Thursday , Roth proclaimed the Pontiff’s visit was “bound to be shadowed by controversy along with ceremony” and  “courts criticism on a range of issues.” Here is a full transcript of Phillips’s September 17 report: 7:10AM ET SEGMENT: JEFF GLOR: Today is the second day of the Pope’s historic visit to Great Britain. And today he meets the leader of the Anglican church. This morning, Pope Benedict went to an outdoor prayer meeting at a school outside London. And CBS News correspondent Mark Phillips is in Twickenham this morning. Mark, good morning. MARK PHILLIPS: Good morning, Jeff. Well, this is, in fact, turning out to be more than just a Papal visit, it’s turning into a test. A test of whether Pope Benedict can get his message across over the background noise of the Church’s child abuse scandal. And that test gets harder as time goes on. [ON-SCREEN HEADLINE: Papal Pilgrimage; Pope Benedict XVI Confronts Controversies in UK] Pope Benedict brought his message to the classroom today, visiting a Catholic school in suburban London. This Pope finds himself with an ironic challenge, he bemoans the weakening role of religion in everyday life, yet it is the Church’s very own public struggle with its child-molesting priests that is helping to drive people away. POPE BENEDICT XVI: The life of faith can only be effectively nurtured when the prevailing atmosphere is one of respectful and affectionate trust. PHILLIPS: Pope Benedict has proved on this trip that he can still draw a crowd. Yet, impressive though the 65,000-strong open-air mass in Scotland was yesterday, it was only about a quarter of the size of the crowd Pope John Paul drew to the same park on his visit 28 years ago. And this crowd had a much better warm-up act, the former Scottish choir girl turned TV talent show star and internet sensation, Susan Boyle, who sang a medley of her hits. This is being billed as Pope Benedict’s most political day of the visit. He meets with the Archbishop of Canterbury, as you said, and he also gives a speech to British parliamentarians. And, of course, the protesters against child abuse, for gay rights and other issues, promise to follow him wherever he goes. Jeff. GLOR: Alright, Mark Phillips, this morning. Mark, thank you very much.

Jack Cafferty’s Latest Rant Against Catholic Church: Ordain Women

On Tuesday’s Situation Room, CNN’s Jack Cafferty revisited one of his favorite subjects of ire, the Catholic Church, and this time called for the ordination of women. Cafferty highlighted the advertising campaign of a British organization which demands that Pope Benedict XVI allow for such simulations of ordination, and mocked a Catholic priest’s defense of the all-male priesthood. The commentator devoted his 6 pm Eastern hour Cafferty File segment to the issue of women’s ordination: “‘ Pope Benedict: ordain women now ‘- that’s the message that will be plastered on London buses when the pontiff heads to England’s capital in a couple of weeks. A group called Catholic Women’s Ordination is spending $15,000 for 15 buses to carry posters with that message around London for a month.” Cafferty then moved to the opposing viewpoint, and wasted little time before bashing it and one of its defenders: “Father Stephen Wang says women are not barred from the priesthood because of sexism….Wang says that Jesus chose 12 men, and no women, to be his apostles, and he adds that men and women are equal in Christianity, but that gender still matters. Wang compares the role of a priest to an actor, saying no one would be surprised if he wanted a male actor to play King Arthur. He then admits the analogy is weak. That’s the most startling and profound thing he said in the message so far- terrible! ” CNN’s “belief” blog (yes, the network has one) ran an article on Monday which gave further excerpts from Father Wang’s recent column on the priesthood : “Men and women are equal in Christianity, he continues, but ‘ this does not mean that our sexual identity as men and women is interchangeable. Gender is not just an accident .’ He [Father Wang] compared the role of a priest to that of an actor playing King Arthur…’No one would be surprised if I said I wanted a male actor to play the lead,’ he said, admitting the analogy was ‘weak.’ But, he said, ‘ it shouldn’t surprise us if we expect a man to stand in the person of Christ as a priest, to represent Jesus in his humanity – a humanity that is not sexually neutral .'” Cafferty later noted that “in addition to the bus campaign, the women’s group plans to hold a vigil the day before the Pope’s visit, and they plan to demonstrate outside the official London residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury.” That may seem a bit off, as the Archbishop of Canterbury, as he is the honorary chief cleric of Anglicanism, but the commentator didn’t explain that the planned protest will take place when Pope Benedict is meeting with the archbishop. He added that “in 1994, then-pope, John Paul II, declared the Catholic Church has no authority to ordain women , and Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, who is now pope, agreed with him.” After reading his “Question of the Hour,” the CNN personality remarked to anchor Wolf Blitzer that ” you could probably find people if you tried, Wolf, or even if you didn’t try very hard, who would tell you it’s way past time .” Blitzer replied, ” I know a lot of people agree with you on that, Jack- a lot of people out there .” Just before the top of the 7 pm Eastern hour, Cafferty read some of his viewer replies. Only one defended the Catholic position: CAFFERTY: Joanne in Pennsylvania writes, ‘It’s past time! There is a great need for priests, especially in the United States. We don’t know for sure that Jesus only choose 12 men, since it was men who decided what texts went into the New Testament. I think it is tradition, and not doctrine, that has kept women from becoming priests .’ Guillermo writes, ‘ I completely agree with Father Wang . Similar to babies being born from women only, the role of the priesthood was established for men only. As simple as Father Wang indicates it, the priest represents Jesus- a man.’ ‘Y’ writes, ‘If I were a woman, I’d tell the Catholic Church to take a hike. Why be obsequious to these clowns? The golden days of white male dominance are over .’ Joe in Houston writes, ‘As an ordained minister of the Church of Apathetic Agnostics, I don’t believe there’s any way I could care any less.’ Anthony in New Jersey: ‘ As a disavowed Catholic, I think the Church should just take down its shingle and declare moral bankruptcy. They demonize homosexuals, abuse children, and treat women like second-class citizens. They’re still in the Middle Ages, as our friends, the Islamic radicals. If a religion can’t teach tolerance and acceptance as their main precept, then they ought to just disband, and get out of the way of progress .’ Barker writes, ‘ The Anglican Church is basically the Catholic Church, except you can have women priests and the priests can marry . It seems to have worked fine for the Anglicans and the Episcopalians for the last few centuries, and you don’t see all the scandals with them that you see with the Catholic priests .’ And Dick writes, ‘Oh my goodness, no! The only things that remain the way the Almighty intended are the Catholic Church and the white male-only country clubs in South Carolina .’ Cafferty has long had an axe to grind against the Catholic Church. During a March 19, 2009 commentary, he attacked the pope’s comment against the effectiveness of condoms in reducing the spread of HIV in Africa: ” It’s time- it is past time for the Catholic Church to enter the 21st century, or at least try to drag itself out of the 13th century .” Earlier in 2010, Cafferty devoted five commentaries over the course of 20 days to blasting both Benedict XVI and the Church. Overall, CNN fares no better, with consistently slanted coverage against the Church . For example, during a March 26, 2010 segment , anchor Kyra Phillips endorsed the agenda of three guests who agitate for politically-correct changes inside the Catholic Church, including women’s ordination and the acceptance of homosexual behavior: ” I think all three of you need to head to the Vatican and institute some change .”

Kyra Phillips Falsely Claims Pope Benedict XVI Hasn’t Said He’s Sorry

CNN’s Kyra Phillips completely got it wrong on Friday’s Newsroom as she reported on Pope Benedict XVI’s latest apology for the priestly sex abuse scandal. Even after she reported that Pope was ” begging for forgiveness ,” Phillips repeatedly claimed that ” there are two simple words we haven’t heard: I’m sorry .” The Pope has actually used those words and has made multiple apologies. The CNN anchor led the 9 am Eastern hour with the pontiff’s request for forgiveness, which he made at a Mass in St. Peter’s Square to close out the Catholic Church’s Year for Priests, which began on June 19, 2009 and ends June 19 this year: “Here’s what we’re working on right now. Sex abuse in the Catholic Church- the Holy Father begs forgiveness, promises never again . But why is it that being Pope means never having to say, I’m sorry .” Despite the continuing the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico and other top stories, Phillips highlighted the Pope’s comments, along with the teenager stranded at sea and the opening of the World Cup in South Africa. After her promos for those three stories, the anchor introduced a live report from CNN correspondent Paula Newton and included a clip from Benedict XVI’s homily: PHILLIPS: We begin with Pope Benedict XVI is begging for forgiveness. Today, he told thousands of his followers gathered at the Vatican that he will never allow priests to abuse children ever again. But is this plea for forgiveness enough? Well, not for critics. Here’s what the Pope said. POPE BENEDICT XVI (through translator): We too insistently beg forgiveness from God and from the persons involved, while promising to do everything possible to ensure that such abuse will never occur again. And that in admitting men to priestly ministry and in their formation, we’ll do everything we can to weigh the authenticity of their vocation. PHILLIPS: Okay. As you just heard, the Pope is asking for forgiveness, but still, there are two simple words we haven’t heard: I’m sorry . CNN’s Paula Newton, live in Rome- so Paula, why can’t the Pope just say, I’m sorry for this global sex scandal? Actually, Kyra, Benedict XVI did use those “two simple words” in his March 19 pastoral letter to the Catholics of Ireland , and added an extra word when he directly addressed those who were abused by priests: “You have suffered grievously and I am truly sorry . I know that nothing can undo the wrong you have endured….It is understandable that you find it hard to forgive or be reconciled with the Church. In her name, I openly express the shame and remorse that we all feel .” Moreover, isn’t “begging for forgiveness” another way of saying “sorry”? The Pope also met with some of the victims of abuse during his April 2008 visit to the U.S., and addressed the scandal during a homily in New York City . Later that year, he apologized again , this time for the sex abuse in Australia while he visited that country. Phillips’s colleague Jessica Yellin made the same false claim nearly two months earlier during a April 16 segment . Yellin asked, “Why is he [the Pope] having such a hard time saying he’s sorry?” Newton then compounded Phillips’s falsehood by answering, “Centuries of theology says that he can’t. A very formal mea culpa was really not going to happen here, Kyra, although that’s what victims’ groups said that they wanted.” She spent the rest of the report delivering the talking points of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP): NEWTON: You know, in listening to what the Pope said, victims’ groups we spokes to said- look, they were gratified that at least he was speaking about it openly. And he said- he asked for forgiveness in a way that he has done privately, but not so publicly, in front of the audience of priests the way he did.   But, you know, I spoke with a Barbara Doris, of the survivors’ network SNAP, and she was quite critical. I want you to listen to this, Kyra. She said to me, ‘This was not very meaningful without the reform. The words ring hollow. It’s like I slapped you, I say I’m sorry, and I continue to slap you.’ Her bottom line, Kyra: not one child is any safer today because of those words. Her point is that reform- true reform at the Vatican has not been started. What she wanted to hear was the Pope address- say I’m sorry, do the mea culpa, which would have been historical, and then also, tell priests- look, if you know of anyone who has abused children around the world, turn them in right now, whether it was in the past or going on right now. Beyond that, they believe the Vatican has a corrupt bureaucracy, and they want that reformed. They say the Pope is a long way from doing that. Kyra? PHILLIPS: Corruption that has to be dealt with- Paula Newton, thanks. Phillips has made no secret that she supports left-wing changes to the Catholic Church. During a March 26, 2010 segment , she brought on three heterodox Christians who advocate the acceptance of homosexual behavior and the ordination of women without anyone from the opposing side and endorsed their agenda: “I think all three of you need to head to the Vatican and institute some change.” The anchor brought back two of those guests nearly a month later on April 21.
