Miranda Lamber’s Bikini Pictures of the Day

I wonder why J.Lo didn’t ask Miranda Lamber to sing the country RIFF of their booty song…I mean it’s about fat asses right? Or is J.Lo a fat ass shamer who only likes fat asses that are round and look like they have implants, but not fat white girl ass, that look like they are in a diaper and just shat themselves…funny, considering her song about fat asses is empowering girls with fat asses to sing along and own their ass, while J.Lo at her core doesn’t mean their fat asses, she means hot fat asses… All this to say, it looks like Country Strong is starting to look like a Country Diner Walmart worker, maybe she’s been emotionally eating her way through her rumored divorce….or maybe she’s pregnant…but the one thing I do know is that her bikini bottoms are at least one size too small… All this to say, J.Lo is a elitast cunt. Gwyneth Paltrow To Duet With Matthew Morrison On His Debut Album

The ‘Country Strong’ star and the ‘Glee’ actor have recorded a version of ‘Over the Rainbow’ for his upcoming release. By Aly Semigran Gwyneth Paltrow and Matt Morrison Photo: GETTY/ Michael Tran Holly Holliday will be making sweet music with Will Schuester once more. Translating from Gleek speak, Oscar-winning-actress-turned-singing-staple Gwyneth Paltrow will be crooning yet another number with Matthew Morrison. Entertainment Weekly reports that Paltrow will appear on Morrison’s upcoming solo album, which is due out on May 10. On “Glee,” recurring guest Paltrow — who plays flaky substitute teacher Holliday — has covered Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide,” Cee Lo Green’s “Forget You” and Prince’s “Kiss,” the latter of which she performed with Morrison’s Mr. Schue. Now, the Golden Globe-nominated Morrison is having the “Country Strong” star help him out on his debut record, on a tune that’s become almost synonymous with his “Glee” character: “Over the Rainbow.” As Morrison told EW, “People kind of know me for that song now.” The Broadway-trained actor not only used the timeless “Wizard of Oz” number for his “Glee” audition, but also sang it with co-star Mark Salling (who released his own solo effort, Pipe Dreams , in 2010) during the season 1 finale — both times accompanying himself on ukulele. “I wanted to do a duet with a female. I thought that was a good song to do, and we really did a different arrangement of it,” Morrison explained about the version he recorded for his album. “It’s a lot of strings, and it’s beautiful.” Morrison admitted that he felt nervous about approaching Paltrow to see if she’d participate in the recording. “The hardest part of doing this album was asking these people favors, like Elton [John] and her,” he said. “I’m so not that guy.” In addition to Paltrow and John, Morrison also has ‘NSYNC member JC Chasez lined up for a duet on a song titled “Dancing in the Rain.” While there’s no word yet on who, if any, of his “Glee” castmates will appear on the record — both had championed to get their own duets on the album — co-star Jenna Ushkowitz has already been singing its praises . Ushkowitz, who plays glee-club member Tina Cohen-Chang on the show, told MTV News on the red carpet of the Screen Actors Guild Awards in January, “His music is really great.” She went on to say that Morrison “made his own sound” on the album, while adding that it was “a little bit of Justin Timberlake … [and] symphonic-sounding.” Morrison has yet to announce a title for album, though the actor did reveal to MTV News at Clive Davis’ post-Grammy bash in February that ” My Name ” has been considered as a possibility. Salt, Alice in Wonderland and the Worst-Reviewed Films Nominated For an Oscar

The gold standard for bad movies getting Oscar love has to be 2007’s multiple Razzie-winning Norbit , which earned an Oscar nod for Best Make-up, and from that moment forward demanded to be called by its rightful name: ” The Academy Award-Nominated Norbit .” (Shudder.) This year’s crop of Oscar-nominated critical duds are cinematic masterworks by comparison — and most of them can thank the thankless effects, costume, and sound mixing technicians for the profile-boost — but still… who’da thunk these 8 films would have come this far?

Cake, Cage The Elephant Take Top Spots On Billboard

Cake debut at #1, but with lowest sales in SoundScan era. By Gil Kaufman Cake’s John McCrea Photo: Noel Vasquez/ Getty Images Droll Sacramento, California, rockers Cake might never again have the chance to snatch away one of the umpteen records held by platinum darling Taylor Swift . But next week, the group can say they bested Swift, even if it is, in this case, a somewhat dubious distinction. The good news is that Cake’s Showroom of Compassion marks the band’s first #1 debut on the Billboard 200 albums chart and their first album to chart in the top 10. The bad news is that their total sales of 44,000 also mark the poorest-selling #1 debut figures for a new album in the modern SoundScan era. (Swift had set the new standard last week, when her Speak Now moved just 52,000 copies .) Another indie band took advantage of the slow new-release traffic to notch a career high. According to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan, Cage the Elephant’s Thank You, Happy Birthday will come in at #2 on sales of 39,000, an impressive feat for the hard-touring band’s second major-label album. The only other new face in the top 10 is country act Steel Magnolia , whose self-titled effort lands at #7 (28,000). The rest of the top 10: Swift, Speak Now (#3, 35,000), Bruno Mars , Doo-Wops & Hooligans (#4, 32,000), Nicki Minaj , Pink Friday (#5, 32,000), the “Country Strong” soundtrack (#6, 29,000), Rihanna , Loud (#8, 28,000), Mumford & Sons , Sigh No More (#9, 26,000) and Kanye West , My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (#10, 25,000). Otherwise, it’s mostly single- and double-digit dips for the majority of the albums in the top 50, with just a few exceptions, including Cage the Elephant, whose self-titled debut surges back onto the charts at #59 as sales spiked by 113 percent to more than nearly 7,000. Over on the iTunes singles chart, Britney Spears sprints to the top with “Hold It Against Me,” which pushes Mars’ “Grenade” down to #2, followed by Enrique Iglesias ‘ randy “Tonight,” Katy Perry ‘s “Firework,” Wiz Khalifa ‘s “Black and Yellow,” Avril Lavigne ‘s “What the Hell,” the Black Eyed Peas ‘ “The Time (Dirty Bit),” Ke$ha ‘s “We R Who We R,” Lil Wayne ‘s “6 Foot 7 Foot” and Kanye West and Jay Z ‘s “H.A.M.” Gwyneth Paltrow’s well-received “Saturday Night Live” hosting gig surely helped the second collection of “Country Strong” songs hit #1 on the iTunes albums chart (the company does not release specific sales data). Right behind are Mumford & Sons, Cage the Elephant, the first “Country Strong” disc, Cake, the Black Keys ‘ Brothers , Christian act Lecrae ‘s Rehab: The Overdose, Kanye West, Daft Punk ‘s “Tron: Legacy” soundtrack and Mars’ debut album. It should be another modest week next time around, with new releases from the Decemberists , the Script , James Blunt and Social Distortion , as well as the latest Kidz Bop collection. ‘Country Strong’: A Cheat Sheet

Everything you need to know, from how Gwyneth Paltrow prepared for the film to how Britney Spears inspired it. By Kara Warner Gwyneth Paltrow in “Country Strong” Photo: Sony Pictures Although it may seem as though we’ve been talking about Gwyneth Paltrow and her turn as a washed-up country singer in “Country Strong” forever, the film, which also stars Tim McGraw, Garrett Hedlund and Leighton Meester, has only been in a few select theaters until now. Luckily for those eager to see it, the film finally opened in wide release Friday (January 7). To celebrate the occasion and properly prepare moviegoers for some boot-stompin’, here’s everything you need to know about “Country Strong.” Back in December 2009, it was announced that Paltrow would be shooting a “country film” called “Love Don’t Let Me Down,” produced by none other than former “Spider-Man” Tobey Maguire. At the beginning of 2010, production headed to Nashville , the home of country music, where the locals were treated to first listens of the country stylings of Hedlund, Meester and Paltrow, all of whom actually sing their own songs in the movie. When MTV News caught up with Paltrow at the beginning of the summer, she was in the thick of promotion for “Iron Man 2,” but she revealed that her hesitation to sing country music didn’t compare to the nervousness she felt concerning the amount of skin she bared for the role. Toward the end of the summer, news trickled out regarding the film’s title change from the wordy “Love Don’t Let Me Down” to “Country Strong,” which is also the title of one of the songs Paltrow’s character, Kelly Canter, sings in the film. In September we got our eyes on the first full-length trailer for the film. Then in November Paltrow made headlines in Nashville once again when she bravely graced the stage at the Country Music Awards and performed “Country Strong” live . From there began the big promotional push in anticipation of the film’s release. We chatted with the stars at the film’s press day and found out key details about Meester’s stage fright and how she had trained for the role . Paltrow revealed that if she ever puts out an album, it will be a little bit country and a little bit Cee Lo . We also learned from director Shana Feste that Paltrow’s character’s troubled, down-on-her-luck edge was inspired by Britney Spears’ very public meltdown . On December 15 the stars lit up the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere , and shortly thereafter MTV News unveiled an exclusive clip of “Gossip Girl” Meester belting out her big showstopper . After that, all we could do was wait for January 7 for “Country Strong” to arrive in wide release. Check out everything we’ve got on “Country Strong.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . ‘Country Strong’ Star Garrett Hedlund Recalls His Country-Music Roots

‘[Co-star] Tim McGraw and the other great country stars filled the airwaves,’ he tells MTV News about growing up on a farm. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Garrett Hedlund Photo: MTV News Garrett Hedlund really is just a small-town guy at the end of the day. So when he hit the set of “Country Strong,” which opened Friday (January 7), he embraced his Minnesota farm boy beginnings and his early love of country music. In the flick he plays Beau Hutton, a young country music songwriter who plays a pivotal role in the life of former country star Kelly Canter (Gwyneth Paltrow), as she tries to reclaim her country throne. Beau also falls for a country singer newbie named Chiles, who’s played by “Gossip Girl” star Leighton Meester. “I mean, country, it was the only thing we listened to on the farm with the one radio station,” Hedlund recalled to MTV News about his childhood. “You try to veer from it and you to go to rock and then to rap, and then country on this film kind of pulled me back home.” Hedlund explained that his folkie roots helped him to relate better to his character. “And [with] ‘Country Strong,’ growing up on a farm, [my co-star] Tim McGraw and the other great country stars filled the airwaves around our house,” he told the Orlando Sentinel. “Our only radio station played only country music,” he said. Post-“Country Strong,” Hedlund said he’s fully embracing his Nashville-loving roots. “And now I’m solely country music once again,” he explained. “Driving in L.A. and everything’s a little tenacious; it can get a little intense.” While country music fans might expect 26-year-old Hedlund to cite some contemporary artists as favorites, the “Tron” star told MTV News singers like Taylor Swift and Keith Urban weren’t primary influences for him on “Country Strong.” “I love old-school [artists like] Townes Van Zandt, a lot of the great singer/songwriters that have a lot of these great lyrics and these great stories and beautiful, sad stories.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Country Strong.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Pete Postlethwaite Dead At 64

Oscar-nominated performer appeared in ‘Inception,’ ‘The Usual Suspects,’ ‘In the Name of the Father.’ By Gil Kaufman Pete Postlethwaite Photo: Pascal Le Segretain/ Getty Images British actor Pete Postlethwaite, best known to American audiences for his Oscar-nominated role in 1993’s biographical film about Irish Republican Army bombers “In the Name of the Father,” died on Sunday at the age of 64. BBC News reports that Postlethwaite, who also appeared in the 2010 box-office smash “Inception,” passed away peacefully in a hospital in Shropshire, England, after a long battle with cancer. Postlethwaite’s 40-year career encompassed both stage and screen, including a stint in the 1980s with the Royal Shakespeare Company after years of working in regional English theater. With the kind of instantly recognizable face crucial for a character actor — sunken, bony cheeks, broad forehead and a bulbous nose — Postlethwaite made his way to the screen in 1988 in the British drama “Distant Voices, Still Lives,” one of many rough-edged, working-class roles he would take on over the years. He was born in Warrington, England, on February 7, 1946, and initially trained to be a teacher, serving as a drama instructor at Loreto College in Manchester before taking a detour into acting. His breakthrough came playing Daniel Day-Lewis’ father in the political drama “In the Name of the Father,” which earned him a best-supporting-actor Oscar nomination. He followed that part with other memorable roles in films such as “The Usual Suspects,” “Brassed Off” and “Amistad.” Postlethwaite also made forays into big-budget Hollywood fare, including “Alien 3,” Baz Luhrmann’s “Romeo + Juliet,” “Inception,” “Clash of the Titans” and “The Lost World: Jurassic Park.” It was his work in that dinosaur sequel that led director Steven Spielberg to dub the veteran performer the “best actor in the world.” Postlethwaite returned to the stage in 2008 to star in Shakespeare’s “King Lear” at the Everyman Theater in Liverpool, where he had gotten his start nearly 40 years earlier. He is survived by his wife and two children. Related Photos Remembering Pete Postlethwaite
