More positivity from this prestigious HBCU … Morehouse President Announces #BlackLivesMatter Presidential Dialogue The President of Morehouse College is making national headlines for announcing a #BlackLivesMatter Presidential Dialogue. During the monthly discussion Dr. John Silvanus Wilson Jr. will meet with students to discuss topics including violence against black people and LGBTQA issues. Via Morehouse.edu: Morehouse President Dr. John Silvanus Wilson Jr. has established a monthly discussion group, the #BlackLivesMatter Presidential Dialogue, in response to student activism on the Atlanta University Center Campus. The president will be joined by students and faculty members from Morehouse, Spelman and Clark Atlanta University to talk about issues ranging from sexual assault across campuses, to violence against black people, to a more responsible embrace of the College’s LGBTQA students. “Simply, the design of the dialogue is to have an institutional space for activist talk and action where at the conclusion of each meeting, there will be a tangible action item employed that will demonstrate our community’s understanding of Black Lives Matter issues and needed solutions,’’ Wilson said. “At Morehouse, we want to get this right,” he told students during a discussion held at the Davidson House Center for Excellence, the president’s official residence. That initial discussion was the catalyst for the monthly dialogue, which officially begins in January 2016 and will continue to be hosted at the Davidson House. Lil Boosie Reveals He Has Kidney Cancer Rapper Lil Boosie posted some devastating news this morning on his Instagram account revealing that he was diagnosed with kidney cancer. The Louisiana rapper is asking all his fans to keep him lifted in prayer according to TMZ . We’re told Boosie’s team was not happy he revealed his condition … which is why the caption was deleted shortly after the initial posting. The photo of Boosie eating a meal remains on his IG. Boosie is only 33, but he’s been living with diabetes for years. He just got out of prison last year … after serving 5 years on a drug charge. By now, you’ve likely heard the name Martin Shkreli. In case you’ve had your fingers buried knuckle-deep in your ears in hopes of shutting out the anguished wails of the millions who might suffer as a result of Shkreli’s deplorably greedy actions, allow us to fill you in: Shkreli is a 32-year-old hedge fund manager and executive chairman of Turing Pharmaceuticals who raised the price of Daraprim – a life-saving drug used for the treatment of toxoplasmosis that’s listed as an “essential medicine” by the World Health Organization – from $13.50 to $750 a pill. That’s a 5,455% price increase that will make the drug unaffordable for millions of HIV patients who depend upon it for their continued survival. That’s a lot to take in, but all you really need to know is that is that Shkreli is the King Douche who makes Donald Trump look like Mother Teresa, Gandhi and Nelson Mandela all combined into some sort of benevolent Voltron. Anyway, it’s been open season on Shkreli ever since the world learned that this rich little prick is getting richer by becoming America’s newest death profiteer, and the folks at Gawker have unearthed an interesting tidbit from this dick weasel’s past. It all started when Shkreli accused a former employee named Timothy Pierotti of stealing $1.6 million from him . Rather than leaving the matter up to the courts like someone who actually has a sound case, Shkreli wrote a letter to the man’s wife, claiming that he had offered Pierotti $40,000 for the “safe return” of his money, which would be entirely unnecessary if there were any truth to Shkreli’s version of events. “I hope to see you and your four children homeless and I will do whatever I can to assure this,” Shkreli concluded, sounding very much like a graduate of the C. Montgomery Burns School of Business. In case you were worried that he stopped there, like someone who’s only partially out of his gourd, fear not: Shkreli went on to harass Pierotti’s daughters on Facebook, sending messages that read, “I’m surprised you don’t know who I am,” or simply, “He betrayed me.” Shkreli proceeded to (allegedly) hack into Pierotti’s social media accounts and change all of his passwords. He also texted Pierotti’s wife with baffling messages such as, “Hey sweetheart.” When the police were contacted, Shkreli told them he had no idea who Pierotti is. He proceeded to settle out of court when sued by the Pierotti family. So there you have it. Martin Shkreli – cartoonish geek-villain name, cartoonish geek-villain level of psychosis.
Last week, Scott Disick checked into rehab following an embarrassing incident at an Atlantic City hotel. It seems Scott was found drunk and barefoot , wandering the lobby of the Harrah’s Resort at 8 am, Sunday morning. Scott was escorted to his room, where he fell asleep and missed his checkout time and his flight to Chicago later that day. Not surprisingly, the incident made Scott realize the severity of his drinking problem, and just days later, he booked a room at the Rhythmia Life Advancement Center – a non-traditional addiction treatment facility in Costa Rica. The center specializes in Iboga therapy, in which patients consume all-natural hallucinogens and go on supervised “trips” that are intended to help them overcome their addictions. Sadly, it looks as though even such an unusual treatment method couldn’t keep Scott’s attention, as TMZ is reporting that Kourtney Kardashian’s baby daddy will be back in LA on Monday. Insiders say Scott actually had a flight home booked for today, but he had a last-second change of heart and decided to stay at the facility a bit longer. Even so, he’s falling well short of the recommended 21-day treatment plan. Disick has a long history of bailing on rehab , and he once ditched a Malibu treatment center after just 12 hours of in-patient care. His latest brief stint came last summer after Scott was hospitalized for alcohol poisoning . Disick admits that he could’ve died from the incident and it inspired him to seek help, but he lasted just one day in rehab. Veteran TV producer Jill Blackstone is under investigation stemming from the death of her sister, Wendy Blackstone, last weekend, according to police. At first, Wendy appeared to have died as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning from a gas grill, but police believe the death scene may have been staged. Jill Blackstone is under investigation based a number of factors … Paramedics found Wendy Blackstone on the floor of the garage of the home where she and Jill lived. There was a grill in the garage, and ash in the grill. Wendy Blackstone, who was deaf and partially blind, was holding a handwritten suicide note … which the police strongly believe was written by Jill. The grill’s unusual placement at Wendy’s feet contributed to the investigators’ suspicion that it was a murder, and not suicide, that they had encountered. Jill was arrested for murder, but released last night after D.A. sent the case back to the police for further investigation. So she’s not out of the woods yet. She told paramedics she also passed out, but regained consciousness enough to ask a friend for help. That friend called 911 out of concern for Jill. The friend believed had suffered a stroke because her speech was slurred, and Jill had to be hospitalized for two days with carbon monoxide poisoning. She was arrested after her release Monday, then cut loose Wednesday. Wendy’s cause of death has yet to be released, pending toxicology results. The 52-year-old Jill Blackstone has produced numerous television shows, including the Rosie O’Donnell Show and the Sally Jessy Raphael Show . Ashley Biden, daughter of Vice President of the U.S. Joe Biden, is engaged! To physician Howard Krein! “Their entire family is thrilled,” says a statement from the V.P.’s office. Ashley Biden , a 30-year-old social worker, and Krein, a physician based in Philadelphia, have been dating for more than a year, according to reports. A physician specializing in Otalaryngology and Facial and Reconstructive Surgery, Krein popped the question to the love of his life in September. I have never experienced four days like this in my life. So much of the Convention had been planned for months and dreamed of for years, but nothing prepares you for the actual experience. Add to that the craziness of the week, and it made for an experience of a lifetime. The last night was very special to me because it featured both of my parents and allowed our entire family to share in the moment. People don’t always see or understand the challenges that a political family encounters; there are some difficult times along the way. But on Thursday night, my Mom and Dad’s hard work was recognized and celebrated in a way I’ve never seen before. I am so happy for them and I am so eager to watch the next 60 days unfold. I’m confident that my Dad will be an incredible President. Thanks to everyone who has helped us get this far. Your support is always a cherished part of my life.
