Facebook "Dislike" Button: Coming Soon?

Mark Zuckerberg might want to invest in a Steve Jobs-esque black turtleneck, because the dude has been absolutely crushing it with the big announcements lately. Last month, Zuckerberg revealed that he’s expecting his first child in the kind of intimate, confessional press release (via Facebook, of course) that we don’t generally associate with CEOs. Today, the Zuckster hosted his annual “town hall” meeting at Facebook headquarters in Menlo Park, CA, and announced that he’s finally giving the people what they want – a quick way to tell their friend that their latest status update totally sucks. Okay, so Facebook won’t be offering the much-demanded thumbs-down “dislike” option as an alternative to its iconic “like” button, but it will soon be providing users with a different way to respond to status updates, so that you can acknowledge a post without giving it a full-blown thumbs up. “It’s important to give people more options than just ‘like’ to help express empathy and sympathy,” Zuckerberg said today. “Not every moment is a good moment.” Reps for Facebook declined to go into further detail, but did claim that Zuckerberg stands by statements he made in December in response to the overwhelming demand for a “dislike” button: “Some people have asked for a dislike button because they want to say, ‘That thing isn’t good,'” Zuckerberg said at the time. “And that’s not something that we think is good for the world. So we’re not going to build that.” The important takeaways here are: We probably won’t be getting a “dislike” button, but we will get something we can click that makes a statement along the lines of “that sucks.”  The dude who’s been a billionaire since college is somehow aware that “not every moment is a good moment.” Maybe someone finally made him watch The Social Network. Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan: Married!

Quite the week for Mark Zuckerberg. The Facebook founder and CEO married his longtime girlfriend Priscilla Chan in a casual, intimate wedding at his Palo Alto, Calif., home on Saturday. The couple, both 28, met at Harvard and have been going steady for nine years. They got hitched in front of about 100 family members and friends. The wedding guests reportedly thought they had gathered merely to celebrate Chan’s graduation from medical school at the University of California. Surprise, surprise. Just one day earlier, Mark made one of the most anticipated moves in finance history in Facebook’s IPO , taking his company public at last. A company spokeswoman said Zuckerberg designed the wedding ring for Priscilla Chan himself, and it featured “a very simple ruby.” And yes, Zuckerberg made it official and public by, of course, changing his status on Facebook from “In a Relationship” to “Married.” He also shared the cute pic above. Congrats!

Pay Yo Bills: Will Facebook’s “Money Making” Mark Zuckerberg Have To Pay $2 BILLION Tax Bill?!?

Makin’ it rain on the IRS!! Facebook’s 2012 tax bill could be one for the record books: Facebook’s upcoming IPO will make founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg a billionaire — but it will also stick him with an eye-popping tax bill that could reach as high as $2 billion. Industry experts say that might be one for the record books. I personally have never seen a bill into the billions — close, but not quite,” said Anthony Nitti, a Colorado-based CPA and partner with Withum, Smith and Brown. “I talked to a few buddies of mine at the Big Four accounting firms, and it’s something not many people have seen.” The giant tax hit is a consequence of Zuckerberg’s plan to exercise stock options worth billions. The move will significantly increase his ownership stake in the company he founded eight years ago. Zuckerberg currently owns almost 414 million shares of Facebook, but he also holds options to buy another 120 million shares at the bargain price of 6 cents a piece. Facebook said in its IPO paperwork that Zuckerberg plans to exercise those options and will sell some of his shares during Facebook’s initial offering to cover the tax bill. DAYUM! Do you think Mark will have to pay this crazy a$$ bill? Source More On Bossip! Hotlanta Hotties: A List Of Women Who We Wouldn’t Mind Seeing On The Cast Of Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta! Winklevoss Twins Lose Appeal of Facebook Settlement

Despite their claims that Facebook did not provide an accurate valuation, a judge ruled that Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss must accept their $65 million settlement from the social networking behemoth and move on. SUCKS for them. A U.S. appeals court ruled that the settlement (depicted in The Social Network ) stands. The Winklevoss twins (seen here with the actor who portrayed them, Armie Hammer) claim Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg stole their idea for the site. Zuckerberg and Facebook denied this, but settled 2008. The Winklevii have since tried to secure more $$ by claiming that

SNL Scorecard: Were Three Mark Zuckerbergs a Charm?

A “cocky” Jesse Eisenberg hosted last night’s edition of Saturday Night Live , though his performance was a bit lost in the excitement from the worst kept secret of the week: The actor’s first (OK, maybe second, considering that they most likely caught up during dress rehearsal) face-to-face meeting with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, whom Eisenberg portrayed in The Social Network . But, stunt cameos aside, how did the recent Oscar nominee fare?

Latest Awards Hurdle for The Social Network: Is Mark Zuckerberg the New Bernie Madoff?

The Social Network ‘s ride to status as Oscar front-runner has been a fairly smooth one — not even the charges that Aaron Sorkin’s script too sexist and/or too fabricated has been able to knock the film off the tracks. But perhaps this will do the trick: Is Mark ” Time Magazine Person of the Year ” Zuckerberg running his billion dollar company like Bernie Madoff?
