David Koepp on SWATH 2: ‘I Couldn’t’ See Sequel Being Made Without Kristen Stewart

David Koepp couldn’t envision a Snow White and the Huntsman  sequel without Kristen Stewart — which is one reason he says he’s no longer involved in the project. Koepp — who scripted  Jurassic Park , the original 2002  Spider-Man  movie and co-wrote and directed this weekend’s new bike-messenger thriller Premium Rush — told Movieline that he departed the project because he had worked on a script idea “that I really liked” involving Stewart’s character. “And their situation, I hear, changed a little, so they weren’t interested in pursuing that idea anymore.” Koepp said that was a sign for him to move on. “I felt like there was a good path with her, but then they wanted to explore a different thing that I had no ideas for,” he explained. “If you don’t have any ideas, you should probably put your pen in your backpack and go home.” As a result, he added, “we agreed to part ways and stay friends.” When I asked Koepp if he could see a sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman being made sans Stewart, he replied: “Well, I couldn’t. That was why I felt like I couldn’t follow through.” Stewart’s involvement in a Snow White sequel has been hotly debated since reports broke in late July that she cheated on her on- and 0ff-screen Twilight love interest Robert Pattinson with  SWATH director Rupert Sanders and apologized for it. On Aug. 15, Deadline  reported that, internally, Universal is discussing whether to focus the next movie on the Huntsman character played by Chris Hemsworth , who is fast proving himself to be leading-man material. Universal also bought a crime drama called 90 Church: The True Story of the Narcotics Squad from Hell for Sanders. Nell Alk is an arts and entertainment writer and reporter based in New York City. Liberty Ross Blog Entry Hints at Split from Rupert Sanders

Forget the future of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart for a moment. We may have a window into the other relationship affected by the latter’s cheating lips: model Liberty Ross appears close to leaving director Rupert Sanders. We base this evaluation solely on Ross’ online blog for Vogue UK , the most recent edition of which features nothing but a photo of an eagle with its wings spread. It certainly seems like someone is ready to fly away, doesn’t it? Previous reports had claimed that Ross was willing to forgive her husband , but visitors to her blog are apparently proud of her for letting go. “Soar high, darling,” one comment reads, while another adds: “Free as a bird? Good luck to you Liberty.” What do YOU think Ross should do? Should she divorce Sanders?

Jodie Foster Sticks Up for Kristen Stewart, Blasts Media Culture

On the heels of her quasi firing from the Snow White and the Huntsman sequel , Kristen Stewart could use all the support she can get. And she now has some from one of the most respected actresses in Hollywood. Oscar winner Jodie Foster has penned an editorial for The Daily Beast in which stands up for her Panic Room costar – the pair appeared in that 2001 thrilled when Stewart was 11 – and slams the celebrity-obsessed media culture, which likes to “life up beautiful young people like gods and then pull them down to earth to gaze at their seams.” Foster, who has acted since the age of three, writes: “If I were a young actor today I would quit before I started. If I had to grow up in this media culture, I don’t think I could survive it emotionally… Would I drown myself in drugs, sex, and parties? Would I be lost?” Foster never cites Kristen’s affair with Rupert Sanders . She refrains from commenting on this specific scandal. Instead, she takes a larger view at what the 24/7 news channels, supermarket tabloids and blogosphere have created, saying the constant attention makes it difficult for an actor to give a “truthful” performance because he or she is always on guard. It’s impossible to be “fearful” in the face of such a barrage. “How can you do that if you know you will be personally judged, skewered, betrayed? If you’re smart, you learn to willfully disassociate, to compartmentalize. Putting your emotions into a safety box definitely comes in handy when the public throws stones.” Sounds a lot like the public persona Stewart gives off, doesn’t it? She’s never looked comfortable in the spotlight. How come? “She’s learned,” writes Foster. “She keeps her head down, her shades on, fists in her pockets. Don’t speak. Don’t look. Don’t cry.” Foster concludes with advice for her young, troubled friend: The public horrors of today eventually blow away. And yes, you are changed by the awful wake of reckoning they leave behind. You trust less. You calculate your steps. You survive. Hopefully in the process you don’t lose your ability to throw your arms in the air again and spin in wild abandon. That is the ultimate F.U. and–finally–the most beautiful survival tool of all. Don’t let them take that away from you.

Is Robert Pattinson Drunk Dialing Kristen Stewart?

The public will hear from Robert Pattinson for the first time since his split from Kristen Stewart when he’s a guest on The Daily Show this Monday. But sources tell In Touch Weekly that Stewart herself has been hearing from the actor often since news of her affair with Rupert Sanders went public. How so? “He’s been drunk dialing Kristen,” an insider claims. Friends tell the magazine that Rob has “been drinking like crazy,” since the split, which is actually the second time this assertion has been made . So, assuming this story is valid, what actually happens when Pattinson gets Stewart on the line? A lot of “dead silences,” this Robsten mole says. Another supposed know-it-all adds that Rob is clearly considering some kind of reconciliation, but “his friends are working hard to make sure that he doesn’t go back to her.” Do you think he should? Should Pattinson forgive Stewart?

Robert Pattinson Schedules First Post-Scandal Interview

Sorry, Today Show . But we have a feeling Good Morning America will beat you in the ratings once again next week. At least on August 15. Robert Pattinson has booked his first interview since Kristen Stewart confirmed to the world that she cheated on him earlier this year with director Rupert Sanders . He’ll sit down with the CBS program next Wednesday in promotion of the film Cosmopolis . It seems highly unlikely that the actor will be asked any questions about his personal life, but the interview will be conducted live and it may be too difficult to the show to resist throwing some Stewart-related question Rob’s way. We’ll certainly be tuning in to find out. Sources say Pattinson was out at a bar in California Friday night, looking sober and mostly in good spirits. However, an insider tells Us Weekly that “Rob’s a total mess, trying to figure out why Kristen did this.” Will we get any insight at all into his mental state next Wednesday? Or will be in full-on movie promotion mode? Viewers around the country are already counting down the seconds until we can see for ourselves.

Breaking Dawn Actress on Robsten Drama: No Worries!

In case you haven’t heard, Kristen Stewart cheated on Robert Pattinson with her Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders . And while this has created an awkward, sad situation in the couple’s personal life – Will they stay together? Will Tom Cruise sets his sights on a now-single Stewart? – it’s also led to speculation on the professional front. Might the box office haul of Breaking Dawn Part 2 suffer as a result of Stewart’s actions?

Charlize Theron: So Mad at Kristen Stewart!

Earlier this year, in a feature for Interview magazine, Charlize Theron said of her Snow White and the Huntsman costar: “There’s not an ounce of her anatomy that shows how to half-ass anything.” Now, however, in light of photos that prove Rupert Sanders is intimately familiar with various ounces of Kristen Stewart’s anatomy, sources say Theron is less a fan of her fellow actress. “Charlize is absolutely fuming with Kristen for having an affair with Rupert,” an insider tells Radar Online, adding that the South African beauty is “tight” with Sanders’ wife, Liberty Ross . Theron and Stewart reportedly grew so close while filming that the former asked the latter to be her son’s godmother. But she had no idea about the bond forming between Kristen and the duo’s director at the time. “[She] feels completely betrayed by the whole incident,” the source adds of the Oscar winner. “It’s certainly left Charlize between a rock and a hard place, because she feels great sympathy for Liberty and the kids and yet, she has a sisterly love for Kristin.” The latest reports indicate no such confusion for Robert Pattinson. He has supposedly told Stewart to move out and a truck was spotted outside the couple’s home in Los Angeles over the weekend. [Photo: WENN.com]

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson: Not Speaking!

Robert Pattinson has moved out of the home he shared with Kristen Stewart, that much we already knew. But a fresh report suggests these stars are not utilizing Skype or sending texts or even dropping any direct Facebook messages: Stewart and Pattinson are not speaking at the moment, People sources say. The impasse, of course, is a result of Stewart’s admitted affair with Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders . Pattinson has not issued any statements on the embarrassing, hurtful matter, but insiders claim he’s appalled that Kristen took the scandal public and is in hiding, trying to figure out his next step. But the star will need to come out relatively soon, and he’ll need to appear alongside Stewart when he does so: Pattinson and his Twilight costar are scheduled to present together September 6 at the MTV Video Music Awards. It’s safe to assume a few people might be tuning in for that now.

Airline Passenger to Justin Bieber: Hush!

He may be a mega, super, duper star, but it’s sometimes easy to forget: Justin Bieber is only 18 years old. And that teenage side reportedly came out during a 12-hour flight from Australia to Los Angeles this week, as TMZ sources say the singer and his entourage grew a bit rowdy in first class. In response to the noise and abundance of four-letter words, a mother of two approached Justin and reprimanded him. Witnesses say the lady told Bieber to “stop yelling curse words and using that kind of language on a plane. It’s not appropriate.” The Biebs immediately apologized profusely and quickly quieted down, which is sort of adorable to imagine. Yes, even Justin Bieber needs to be scolded sometimes. Elsewhere in Bieber Land, Justin recently made headlines for opening up about sex during a Rolling Stone interview. Spoiler alert: he has it. But only because he’s in love. [Photo: WENN.com]
