Beauty Entrepreneur’s Daughter Becomes Youngest CEO To Have Products Featured At Target

Read the rest here:

B eauty entrepreneur Courtney Adeleye —the woman behind the brand The Mane Choice—has broken barriers in entrepreneurship and her 5-year-old daughter is following in her footsteps. According to Black Enterprise , Adeleye’s daughter Lily Adeleye recently became the youngest CEO to have her company’s products sold at Target. “Being the first Mother/Daughter duo to hit shelves in one of the largest retail stores in the world is still surreal to us. It’s history.” @CourtneyAdeleye https://t.co/2I57JcL8j3 — Black Enterprise (@blackenterprise) November 1, 2019 With the help of her mother, the youngster cultivated a brand dubbed Lily Frilly. The brand was created to empower young girls. Lily Frilly sells a variety of products including backpacks, dresses, lunchboxes and bows which can now be found at Target. “From the time Lily was 3, I knew then she had a business mindset. At an early age, as she watched me build a successful business from the ground up, it exposed her to many possibilities and goals, so with that, we didn’t wait until she was an adult to help her pursue them,” Adeleye told the news outlet. “Many people don’t understand the importance of instilling ‘the NOW’ into children. Not in all situations do you have to wait until you’re older to pursue your dreams. Lily Frilly believes that children have the ability to meet their full potential at an early age and we hope people see our story as an inspiration to be innovative and step outside of the box.” The mother-daughter-duo is also using the brand as an avenue to create spaces for mothers and their children to connect by hosting kid-friendly networking and empowerment events. Young Black entrepreneurs are landing major deals with national retailers. 12-year-old business owner Gabrielle Goodwin —who founded GaBBY Bows— landed a deal with Target to have her products sold at 74 of their stores across the country. Earlier this year, 18-year-old beauty entrepreneur Zandra Cunningham inked a deal with the retailer to sell her brand’s beauty box in their stores. The Voice Recap: Who Made It to the Battle Rounds?

The Blind Auditions reached their sixth night on Tuesday.  Yes, it felt like groundhog day, but at least there were some decent acts, we guess.  With the Battles creeping up, most of the below competitors will probably not survive them.  Caeland Garner (Team Blake) – “Dancing in the Moonlight” Remember Red Marlow? Well, his friend, Caeland appeared at the Blind Auditions, and immediately struck a chord with the coaches.  The 31-year-old went with a Toploader cover, and it got Blake happy enough to take him as one his own competitors.  “Your voice is so unique,” the coach said. “I’m mesmerized by your sound.” Lela (Team Jennifer) – “Havana” This 15-year-old Miami native was open about wanting to harness the sounds of both Shakira and Beyonce. While we’re not sure she sounded anything like either of those famous artists, there was something there to like.  However, there’s no telling whether she will survive the Battle Rounds, or if she will be able to adapt quickly. Cody Ray Raymond (Team Kelly) – “Born Under a Bad Sign” Cody turned in a surprising audition. He seemed like he had a distinct sound before he even started singing, but he switched it up with an extraordinary rendition of this hit song.  Kelly heard the voice and immediately turned her chair because there was something to work with here. He had charisma, the vocals, and a great stage presence.   Abby Cates (Team Kelly) – “Scars to Your Beautiful” On paper, Abby seemed like she would be a great performer, but her voice burned out by the second verse of her number, and that’s a bad sign.  If that’s the shape of things to come for this youngster, then there’s little chance she will make it very far. Funsho (Team Adam) – “Finesse” It’s always difficult to chase the dream, but Funsho quit his job to carve out a career in music in L.A., and he’s been struggling ever since.  The good thing was that his voice was robust, and could probably move some mountains. The song choice will be critical from here on out for this one.  What are your thoughts on the latest acts? Hit the comments below.  The Voice continues Monday on NBC. 8-Year-Old Philadelphia Girl Uses Barbering To Give Back To Her Community

Original post:

A young barber from Philadelphia is using her skills to give back to her community. After successfully completing barber training, 8-year-old Neijae Graham-Henries has been offering free haircuts to kids in her neighborhood, CBS Philadelphia reported. 8-year-old girl passes barber training, gives back to community with free haircuts https://t.co/Oq0x9CjlTA @adriannabarr pic.twitter.com/4m7gTB4d7B — Yahoo Lifestyle (@yahoolifestyle) September 26, 2018 Graham-Henries began her cosmetology journey at the Junior Barber Academy in North Philadelphia over the summer, the news outlet writes. The program is led by P. Michael Boone who has been cutting hair for nearly three decades. It was created to teach young men all of the elements of barbering, including everything from clipper control to cleanliness. Initially, Graham-Henries’ brother was going to participate in the program but decided to not move forward. She chose to stick with it. After noticing her passion for cutting hair, Boone took the youngster under his wing. “I never expected to see a young lady in my class, but she was eager to learn, and I gave her the same guidance I’d give my older students,” Boone told Yahoo News . “I am very proud of her. She was a great student, and I am excited to see where this will take her.” Boone recently organized a back to school event for children in the Philadelphia area where Graham-Henries helped him give nearly 400 students free haircuts. “The whole process is to finish it and do it really good and to, like, style it good,” Graham-Henries told CBS Philadelphia. Boone is gearing up for another community service-focused project in November where he will cut hair for the homeless. He says the second grader will more than likely help him out with that project. There are several people in Philadelphia using barbering as an avenue to give back to those in need. In 2017, after dedicating an entire year to walking the streets of the city to give free haircuts to the homeless, Brennon Jones was gifted with a fully-furnished barbershop to continue serving those in need. The Voice Recap: Who Will Make Final 10?

The Voice continued with another solid performance show that proved most of the people still in the competition deserved their spot.  The top 11 took to the stage to try and get the competitive edge to advance into the top 10. Let’s run down the 11 performances.  Stephanie Rice Stephanie has struggled to move out of her vocal range to show audiences she can change things up. She successfully managed to do just that with “Behind Blue Eyes” by The Who.  It was a surprisingly good performance and gave me hope that Stephanie would be able to make to the finals.  Aliyah Moulden Aliyah’s performance of “Take it Back” by Reba McEntire was, like, the worst performance of the season. No, seriously, she screamed her way through it.  It was a surprisingly horrid rendition of a classic song. Screaming through songs is not the way to go, and Blake should have known better.  TSoul TSoul can do no wrong. Every single week, he gets given a song and makes it his own. “Lay Me Down” by Sam Smith is a difficult song to sing, but there was something about it that felt so original.  The performance faltered when he left the piano, but it was still a cut above some of the others.  Lilli Passero Lilli went with “Town Without Pity” by Gene Pitney. It was up there as one of her best. It was perfect. There was nothing to fault with it.  She made the song her own, and that’s what artist should be doing at this stage of the competition.  Hunter Plake Hunter went with “All I Want” by Kodaline. Despite some hiccups, it was a solid number that showed just how far he has come since his days struggling to emerge as a strong competitor.  Gwen said she let him make his own decisions and I think she should continue to do so.  Vanessa Ferguson Vanessa went with “Diamonds” by Rihanna, and I immediately rolled my eyes. I’m so over chart music being used on competition series.  However, the performance blew me away. Vanessa has been all over the place with her performances of late, but she’s trying to be a better performer.  Lauren Duski Lauren went with “Somewhere In My Broken Heart” by Billy Dean. It was amazing. She brought her A game and proved the naysayers wrong.  She hit every note flawlessly, and I can’t wait to see what’s coming for her next.  Mark Isaiah Mark is struggling to change things up, and it’s proving that he has a very limited vocal range. Singing “How to Love” by Lil Wayne should have been his time to shine.  Instead, it was the same one-note route he has traveled before.  Jesse Larson Jesse’s performance of “Human” by Rag’n’Bone Man was music to my ears. Despite a weak opening, he pulled it together pretty quickly.  More performances like this and he may just win the season.  Brennley Brown Brennley went with “River” by Joni Mitchell. It was yet another solid performance from the youngster.  All of the notes were on point, and it sounded like a performance you would hear on finale night. Yes, she’s that good.  Chris Blue Chris Blue went with “When a Man Loves a Woman” by Percy Sledge. It was a solid performance from him. He’s become a reliable performer over the course of the season.  It should be enough to save him for another few weeks.  View Slideshow: Reality TV Star Salaries: Who Makes the Most?

Vanderpump Rules Season 3 Episode 5 Recap: Does Katie Maloney Motorboat Crotch?

Last night on Vanderpump Rules Season 3 Episode 5, Kristen and Tom returned to work at SUR after being suspended, while Stassi was given a big opportunity by Lisa. Meanwhile, Tom Schwartz made a HUGE commitment (well, for him anyway) in hopes of appeasing Katie’s concerns, while she also faced some hard core accusations. What did those consist of, and how did everything go down (sort of literally)? Watch Vanderpump Rules Season 3 Episode 5 Online Picking up where Episode 4 left off, Vanderpump Rules Season 3 Episode 5 saw Schwartz try to get out of the doghouse after quitting his job at PUMP spectacularly. To show he can commit to stuff, while also delaying marriage talks with Katie Maloney, he adopted a rescue dog! Which was silly looking but so, SO cute. So cute, in fact, that she envisioned the puppy as the ring bearer in the wedding Tom desperately wants to avoid thinking about! So that totes backfired! Meanwhile, if you watch Vanderpump Rules online , you know Lisa Vanderpump and Stassi Schroeder are often at odds. Well, this week things are good. In fact, Lisa hired Stassi to be her stylist for a photo shoot, a gesture she felt was generous as the youngster could put the experience on her resume. Yet Stassi didn’t see it that way, feeling Lisa treated her like an assistant and not a professional. Lisa, for her part, felt her former staffer was ungrateful. All of that took a back seat to the drama with Katie and Jax Taylor , however. According to Jax and Scheana Marie, not only is it possible to motorboat someone’s crotch, but Katie did just that, between some unidentified actor’s legs! Jax began relaying that Katie had cheated on Schwartz in this manner, a dubious claim because it’s Jax, a man who lies like he gets pointless nose jobs. Still, Scheana claimed she saw the entire incident, so the rumors spread. Sadly, the actor who supposedly had his crotch motorboated by Katie Maloney was never revealed, but Jax and the accused motorboater had words. When Tom Sandoval , Tom Schwartz and Jax joined Katie for brunch, Sandoval and Jax just grilled her on this alleged incident, while Schwartz did nothing. Seriously. He just freaking sat there while Jax tore his girlfriend a new one. Vanderpump Rules Cast Photos 1. Stassi Schroeder Sassy Stassi is the resident wit on Vanderpump Rules. She’s basically a young Lisa V. in the making. Beyond whimpering “Bubby” a few times (whatever the heck that means), he did not stick up for his girl one iota … or ask if the rumor was true for that matter. Katie eventually stormed off after getting railroaded by that douche Jax. When Tom Schwartz ran after her, did he at least defend her stance or comfort her? No, he told her that she was basically the instigator in all of this. Now there’s a standup guy. Totes future fiance and husband material.

Jenelle Evans Accused of Child Abuse; Teen Mom 2 Star Defends Black Eye Photo, Fires Back Online

Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans posted a photo of her baby son Kaiser with what looks like a black eye, which of course prompted cries of child abuse online. Someone even called Child Protective Services on her over the image below, which did not sit well with the Carolina Hurricane and sparked a Twitter rebuke: Jenelle leaves Kaiser, three months old, in the care of her mother-in-law (or her baby daddy’s Nathan Griffith ‘s mom, since they’re not married) while in school. Often, she posts pictures from their day to day adventures in parenting, but someone actually reported Jenelle to the state agency after this photo. Anyone with little kids knows that they get bonked, bruised and scratched on a routine basis, figuring out how to crawl, walk and roll over, et cetera. That, combined with the fact that no one was there to see what (if anything) happened to the youngster makes the call to CPS a pretty crazy move. Not surprisingly, Jenelle was fuming about it: U guys r seriously accusing me of giving Kai a black eye?! Wtf is wrong with all if u. CALL CPS again. I dare u, idiots. Me and Nathan’s mom just got finished laughing at u haters. She’s like “even if Kai did have a black eye.. Would u REALLY be posting it ?!” She makes a good point, even it does look like he suffered a bonk of some kind. Attributing that to abuse you assume took place is pretty absurd, though. Jenelle Evans , who appeared with Leah Messer, Kailyn Lowry, and Chelsea Houska on this week’s reunion show ( watch Teen Mom 2 online ) is a lot of things. Abusive is not one of them. In fact, she posts almost daily pics of all the cute things she and her little family do together, from the benign to the adorable. We know Jenelle has had a tough past and that haters will always assume the worst, and she may be guilty of oversharing and giving them too much ammo. She’s not a child abuser though. Move on. Jenelle Evans Baby Photos 1. Jenelle Evans, Daddy and Baby Jenelle Evans, Nathan Griffith and their newborn baby son Kaiser share a touching moment.

Kendall Jenner to Be Cast in Fifty Shades of Grey Movie Sequel?!

None other than Kendall Jenner is reportedly under strong consideration for a role in the steamy Fifty Shades of Grey movie sequel, Fifty Shades Darker. According to Grazia magazine, she’s already in talks with agents, and director Fifty Shades of Grey director Sam Taylor-Wood is a fan of the youngster. Supposedly, the 18-year-old even had a meeting with Universal , the studio behind the project, and they were impressed with the reality star and model. Taylor-Wood, according to inside reports, is “fascinated by her” and “expressed interest in her appearing in the first film” as well, “but it didn’t happen.” “Universal is also keen for Kendall to be involved in the sequel. They put in a call to her people and arranged a meeting last month, which went really well.” “It wouldn’t be a major role but would certainly be a foot in the door,” however, “she’ll only sign on once Sam Taylor-Wood is confirmed as the director.” Kendall Jenner is going to turn down a part in Fifty Shades Darker if there’s a new director for the sequel? Somehow we don’t buy that little detail. As for the franchise bringing Kendall on board at all? We actually could see it. Rita Ora, despite zero acting experience, will be in the first 50 Shades . It’s also worth noting that in casting Jamie Dornan as lead Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele, the producers are thinking outside the box. No word if Kendall would go by only one name , as she’s reportedly doing from now on in her modeling career, or use Jenner when it comes to acting. What do you think? Would you like to see the Keeping Up the Kardashians star in the Fifty Shades of Grey sequel? Her Instagram fans would go insane … 31 Wildly Inappropriate Photos of Kendall Jenner 1. James Safechuck: Michael Jackson Used Code Words For Molesting Me

James Safechuck, one of Michael Jackson’s molestation accusers, says the King of Pop used secret code words for the sex acts they allegedly engaged in. Think “duck butter.” Now go find something to vomit into. James Safechuck: Michael Jackson Molested Me Like Wade Robson, who has filed bombshell documents asking the star’s estate to admit Michael Jackson raped him , Safechuck makes some serious allegations. Now 36, James Safechuck ‘s similar lawsuit claims Jackson molested him when at age 10 when he traveled with Michael for his Bad tour. This was 1988. Safechuck claims that Michael taught him to use code words, referring to his erection as “bright light, brick city” and calling his semen, ” duck butter .” Not only that, the accuser claims Jackson used secret signals. The two would hold hands, he says, and when Michael started scratching the inside of James’ hand with his finger, this indicated that he wanted to have sex. Safechuck says Jackson wanted a full-blown relationship with him, keeping him out of school and performing a full-on wedding ceremony with the boy. If it’s even possible, the allegations actually get worse. He says Jackson took him to a place nicknamed “The Hideout” in Century City to drink sweet, pink wine and watch porn of small children masturbating. On a bizarre note, Safechuck says at one point he developed a crush on Sheryl Crow, who was one of Jackson’s backup singers … and Michael was furious. Showing him unflattering pictures of Crow without makeup, a jealous Jackson clearly tried to dissuade the youngster from these heterosexual tendencies. When he reached puberty, he says, the abuse ceased. The allegations against Jackson, who long denied child molestation claims while he was alive and whose estate continues to do so now, show no sign of doing so. Remembering Michael Jackson (1958-2009) 1. The Moonwalk Michael Jackson pioneered so many dance moves, he pretty much is in his own category. No one ever moved like this guy.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey Scoop: Dina Manzo Ordered Ousting of Jacqueline Laurita

Dina Manzo may be returning to The Real Housewives of New Jersey . But in order for Manzo to come back to the series she quit in 2010, the reality star made a demand of producers: Give the boot to Jacqueline Laurita. Jacqueline tells the latest issue of In Touch Weekly that she’s aware of Dina’s role in her ousting, dissing her sister-in-law to the tabloid and saying: “I understand why Dina wouldn’t want me on the show: She doesn’t want to address family issues on-camera!” What’s behind this family feud? From where do Manzo’s issues stem? “Dina started it because she wanted Caroline and Jacqueline to quit the show when she left,” claims a magazine source. “They didn’t, so this is her way of getting back at them.” A major casting shakeup is set to take place on Season 6 of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Caroline is out. Jacqueline is out. And insiders say Amber Marchese and twin sisters Nicole and Teresa Napolitano will come on board when the series returns in 2014.
