“Red Tails” Is Putting Black Filmmakers In Jeopardy

Link:

Red Tails executive producer George Lucas had nothing but good intentions by getting this movie made, but he admits that he has unintentionally put Black filmmakers in jeopardy. He financed Red Tails with his own money because he could not get a studio in Hollywood to pick it up. Red Tails cost $58 million to make, more than most other Black films to produce, and if it doesn’t succeed financially, Lucas recognizes that studios will be less likely to green light more movies by Black filmmakers for Black audiences. Read the rest of his comments at  HuffPost . Watch him talk about why getting his film made was such a challenge in the clip below. Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert Announce Dueling Marches on Washington

The liberal media just can’t stand all the attention Glenn Beck got for his “Restoring Honor” rally in Washington, D.C., last month. On Thursday, left-leaning comedians Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert announced dueling marches on our nation’s capital to take place three days before Election Day. Stewart is calling his the ” Rally to Restore Sanity ,” and Colbert’s is the ” March to Keep Fear Alive .” The “Daily Show” host was first to announce his event (videos follow with commentary): The Daily Show With Jon Stewart Mon – Thurs 11p / 10c Rally to Restore Sanity www.thedailyshow.com Daily Show Full Episodes Political Humor Tea Party About a half an hour later, Colbert announced his own rally (relevant section at 2:30): The Colbert Report Mon – Thurs 11:30pm / 10:30c March to Keep Fear Alive www.colbertnation.com Colbert Report Full Episodes 2010 Election Fox News Are these just publicity stunts to mock Beck or the real deal? Consider that this story has been a featured headline at Google News for well over an hour with over 300 outlets reporting it. As such, it seems a metaphysical certitude these rallies will be covered with far more enthusiasm and excitement than the media showed for Beck’s event. The only question is how well attended they will be. Stay tuned.

Stewart Rips Fox’s GOP Contribution, Ignores Viacom’s Dem Donations

Comedian Jon Stewart on Wednesday bashed Fox News for parent company News Corporation’s $1 million donation to the Republican Governors Association. Unfortunately, Stewart failed to inform his viewers that Viacom, the parent company of Comedy Central, has so far given disproportionately to Democrats this year. Also missing in the “Daily Show” host’s attack of FNC and Glenn Beck was that News Corp. prior to this contribution had historically given more to Democrats than Republicans. Such facts were unimportant Wednesday evening, for Stewart was on another in a long line of Fox News is the devil incarnate rants (video follows with commentary): The Daily Show With Jon Stewart Mon – Thurs 11p / 10c News Corp. Gives Money to Republicans www.thedailyshow.com Daily Show Full Episodes Political Humor Tea Party JON STEWART: I really think if anything the Republicans should be paying Fox News millions and millions of dollars.  If Stewart is indeed concerned with “following the money,” maybe he should look at the contributions by his own company. After all, according to Open Secrets, Viacom’s Political Action Committee has so far this year contributed 62 percent of its money to Democrats and only 38 percent to Republicans (h/t Lachlan Markay): In 2008, this ratio was 58 percent Democrats, 42 percent Republicans: Beyond this, as NewsBusters reported hours before Stewart made his comments, prior to this $1 million donation, News Corp. had actually given 54 percent of its donations to Democrats and 46 percent to Republicans. The “Daily Show” host didn’t mention this inconvenient truth Wednesday evening. More importantly, since for his part Stewart has historically bashed Republicans and Fox News far more than he’s attacked liberal politicians and their shills at MSNBC, maybe the Democrats should be paying Comedy Central millions and million of dollars.

Stephen Colbert Defends Helen Thomas By Bashing Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck

Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert on Wednesday defended Helen Thomas’s anti-Semitic remarks by attacking conservative talk radio hosts Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, John Gibson, and Michael Savage. Addressing the comments that led Thomas to resign her position with the Hearst News Service, Colbert said, “Jesus Christ on a matzo cracker, Helen. What were you thinking?” He continued, “You don’t just blurt out racially charged comments on camera.” As pictures of the four conservative talkers appeared on the screen, Colbert quipped, “You do it on your radio show” (video follows with commentary): The Colbert Report Mon – Thurs 11:30pm / 10:30c Helen Thomas’s Reputation www.colbertnation.com Colbert Report Full Episodes Political Humor Fox News Welcome to the Bizarro World of today’s liberal comedian that doesn’t understand the difference between news and opinion, and can’t distinguish a talk radio host from a member of the White House press corps. But this is common for modern day media members who equate anti-Semitic and/or racist comments by folks charged with reporting the news to remarks they find offensive from people on the radio. Making matters worse is the number of Comedy Central viewers that actually rely on Colbert and colleague Jon Stewart as their primary source for information on current events. It would indeed be laughable if it wasn’t so frightening.

Jon Stewart demonstrates dismay that the Senate Democrats lack the balls to stand up to one cantankerous old GOP fart.

The Daily Show With Jon Stewart Mon – Thurs 11p / 10c Senate After Dark http://www.thedailyshow.com/ Daily Show Full Episodes Political Humor Health Care Reform I hate to be all petty and partisan, but am I the only one who thinks Senator Jim Bunning is a giant dick? And does anybody really believe he is a “stand alone dick”? Because I am pretty sure he emerged from some smoke filled Senate backroom where Republicans get together to decide how to slow down the Democratic agenda at every turn after being told that since he was on his way out of the Senate he needed to “take one for the team” and act like a complete asshole while his GOP comrades acted all innocent and confused. “What? Senator Bunning is blocking this vote? Why, whatever would possess him to do such a thing? I swear I cannot imagine.”
