Manhattan Man Murders Father Over Lowered Allowance A spoiled NYC heir has murdered his father inside his parents’ Manhattan home…all in anger over his weekly allowance being lowered to $300.00. Via NYDN : A wealthy hedge-fund chief was gunned down by his adult son after he threatened to cut his allowance by a $100 a week and stop paying his steep rent, cops said Monday. Spoiled manchild Thomas Gilbert Jr., 30, flew into a murderous rage when he confronted his fed-up dad, Thomas Gilbert Sr., 70, over the downsizing of financial support, police said. “He was on a stipend from the family. Looks like he was in debt,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said of the accused killer. The freeloading son, a Princeton grad, shot his father once in the head with a .40-caliber Glock 22 handgun Sunday afternoon inside is parents’ multimillion-dollar Beekman Place apartment, police said. He then callously staged the murder scene to appear as if it was a suicide, placing the gun on his father’s chest and putting the dead man’s left hand over it, Boyce said. Gilberts parents recently told him they were cutting his $400 a week allowance by $100, a police source said. His parents also informed him they would no longer pay the rent on his apartment in a Chelsea building, where rents average $3,100 a month, the source said. As it turns out, this may not have been the first murderous tantrum the “spoiled manchild” threw in recent months. As news of the murder broke, neighbors began to suspect that Gilbert was responsible for a mysterious fire in the Hamptons a few months back. Via MailOnline : Last September 18, Gilbert was arrested for violating an order of protection three days after a Hamptons family home burned to the ground in a case of suspect arson. Multiple acquaintances of Gilbert Jr, repeated the rumor they had heard that the Princeton grad and Deerfield alumnus was a focus of suspicion when the house burned down. However, police have never identified Gilbert Jr. as a suspect nor has he been charged in the fire. In the early hours of September 15 this year, a blaze destroyed the beautiful Hamptons home owned by retired investment banker Peter L. Smith. According to sources, Peter Smith reportedly filed a restraining order against Gilbert Jr. this summer after an incident near his Williamsburg, Brooklyn home. SMH! So every time someone pisses this rich brat off, he has to burn some isht down or shoot somebody up?! This is outrageous… Police Officer Sentenced To Only 30 Days In Jail For Molestation Charge A Virginia police officer found guilty of multiple counts of child molestation has only been sentenced to serve 30 days in prison with 2 years probation for his crimes against a minor . Gotta love that police privilege … Via FreeThoughtProject : The special treatment a Virginia state trooper received, who was charged with with forcible sodomy on a minor, aggressive sexual battery and indecent liberties with a child, among other charges, will turn your stomach. Fauguier.com reported in December on the details of the charges and the subsequent outcome of the plea bargain. Christopher Allen Carson, 30, pleaded guilty to a felony count of criminal solicitation, a count of contributing to delinquency of a minor and one count of exposing his penis to a child. Carson also pleaded guilty to two counts of loaning pornographic videos to a child. Judge Herman A. Whisenant Jr. accepted Carson’s pleas as part of a bargain on the day Carson was to face a jury trial. Carson was originally charged with forcible sodomy, aggressive sexual battery and indecent liberties with a child. Whisenant recommended a sentence of nine years in prison, all but 30 days of which to be suspended, and two years of probation. As part of the plea agreement, Carson does not have to register as a sex offender. Also as part of the agreement, two additional active charges of forcible sodomy and indecent liberties with a child will be dropped. This man orally forced himself onto a sleeping 7th grader and he will only be going to jail for 30 days. Let that sink in. Also, Carson will not have to comply with Virginia’s Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry Act. This is completely fawked up! They can already legally kill whomever they want…is it also becoming legal for them to molest children?? SMFH!

Of course, Te’o doth protest too much, begging two obvious points: Yes, Manti was catfished, but when your online “girlfriend” supposedly dies and you milk the story for publicity, well, karma will get you. Today, cops in the area worry about street performers who dress up like Elmo. The city’s transformation from crime capital to urban Disneyland is one of America’s great success stories, but a less encouraging narrative has accompanied it. As a new report shows, arrests for petty offenses like turnstile-jumping and pot possession have shot up since 1980, disproportionately affecting young black and Latino men. The report, released Tuesday by John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Manhattan, shows that the nation’s largest police force has been arresting more people for misdemeanors, a category that includes low-level crimes, from prostitution to minor drug offenses to dancing in the subway. Since 1980, the percentage of New Yorkers arrested for misdemeanors has tripled, according to the study. The number of blacks arrested for misdemeanors nearly doubled to 104,659 in 2013, from 56,152 in 1990. Latinos saw the number rise even more dramatically, to 78,733 from 30,885. Police arrested 28,996 whites for misdemeanors in 2013, compared with 21,815 in 1990. In New York, civil rights advocates have long criticized the police for stopping and frisking disproportionate numbers of black and Latino people. Mayor Bill de Blasio took office in January after promising to reform the practice. But the new mayor appointed as the police commissioner William J. Bratton, known for his hard-nosed approach to minor offenses. That strategy came under intense scrutiny last summer, after the police grabbed Staten Island grandfather Eric Garner in a chokehold while attempting to arrest him for selling untaxed cigarettes. Garner died soon after. Critics say Bratton’s “broken windows” strategy lands hard on low-income people and people of color. According to Page Six , Ashlee Simpson has split from Vincent Piazza. The two were together for a year and a half. Reports are saying that the couple broke up over the Thanksgiving holiday due to increasing work obligations. Though the split is said to have been a mutual agreement, Boardwalk Empire star Piazza’s career is the one that’s been on the rise. A source said “Vincent has been working a lot, so he hasn’t been able to spend as much time with Ashlee, which has caused some problems. It was a mutual agreement to split, but things have been bumpy for a little while, so perhaps they might reconcile.” Reps for both stars have yet to issue a confirmation. The pair began dating in June 2011 after Simpson split from former husband Pete Wentz. Wentz and Simpson have a 3-year-old son together, Bronx. This breakup comes on the heels of Ashlee’s parents’ divorce after 24 years of marriage.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is back and “Uh Oh, Somebody’s Crying!” Isn’t that just what you want to hear someone yell out when you’re sobbing in public? We recap all the tears and fears in our THG +/- review. It started off with the summit meeting between Lisa and Adrienne. Plus 12 to Adrienne for calling it although it was about damn time. As usual Lisa looked on the event with her own very British brand of humor. “I don’t mean to make her nervous…that much.” Plus 15. But the wait for Adrienne to get around to saying the actual I’m sorry felt like it took forever and her apology seemed a bit hollow until she uttered those words. Plus 10 for finally getting there, but it still came across a little less than heartfelt. And Lisa’s right. They may move forward but their relationship will never be the same. Kyle takes Alexia for her driver’s permit test. She’s failed it twice. Plus 10 for the third time being the charm. Of course only in Beverly Hills can a kid pass her test, walk outside and jump into a Maserati! Lisa gets Brandi a modeling gig at Beverly Hills Lifestyles magazine. Apparently Brandi could use the self esteem boost. No, seriously! For as knock out gorgeous as Ms. Granville is, her ex-husband’s philandering definitely took its toll. Minus 20. And if you’d like to find out how she dealt with his bed hopping and their subsequent divorce it looks like you’ll be able to read all about it in Brandi’s upcoming tell all. Plus 13 . I think I’d rather read Brandi’s book than Taylor’s. Kim invites all of the ladies to the lovely Casa Elar Spa and Resort in Ojai. She’s in a good place right now. So good that she even invites Brandi. Plus 22 . Even Camille joins them which is nice but I could have done without hearing about Kelsey’s new groin tattoo. Minus 30 . Now I need to burn that image from my brain. Yolanda thinks Ojai is all about nature and hiking…well not if you’re from Beverly Hills. I don’t think these ladies own a pair of hiking boots between them. Minus 9 . Perhaps they’ll drop down from a six inch to a four inch heel instead. With a limited amount of bedrooms some of the ladies will have to double up and Adrienne has only one goal…to get a better bedroom than Lisa. Lisa and Brandi end up sharing which offers some hilarious results when Ms. Vanderpump sees Brandi’s sleeping attire. Plus 15. “You sleep in that frilly knicker thing?” Trust me. If anyone can pull it off, it’s Brandi. Things were even going well between Brandi and Kim. They were talking, not screeching at one another. Plus 19. When the conversation got emotional Kim ended up in tears, which would have been OK if it weren’t for Adrienne. Brandi was right. Adrienne squawking to the table that Kim was crying was just plain rude. Of course telling Ms Maloof to “shut the f**k up” wasn’t exactly the height of propriety either. Brandi admits she has no filter. It’s what makes her so damn entertaining and to be honest, although I never would have said that to Adrienne I probably would have wanted to. We’ll just have to wait until next week to see how this dinner party ends. Episode total = +57! Season total = +112!

The World Premiere of Ang Lee ‘s Life Of Pi will open the New York Film Festival September 28th. The screening launching the 50th anniversary of the annually anticipated film event will be a return for the Oscar-winning director, who screened Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon as the festival’s closing night event 12 years ago. Robert Altman, Pedro Almodóvar and Francois Truffaut are the only other directors to have had more than one film chosen to bow the festival. Lee’s The Ice Storm opened the 1997 edition of NYFF. The film stars Suraj Sharma, Irrfan Khan, Tobey Maguire and Gérard Depardieu. Life Of Pi will the be the first 3-D NYFF opener. Based on the book that has sold more than seven million copies and a number o f years on bestseller lists, the feature takes place over three continents, two oceans, many years and a wide world of imagination. Lee’s vision, coupled with game-changing technological breakthroughs, haas turned a story long throughout un-filmable into a totally original cinematic event and the first truly international all-audience motion picture. Life Of Pi follows a young man who survives a disaster at sea and is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery. While marooned on a lifeboat, he forms an amazing and unexpected connection with the ship’s only other survivor…a fearsome Bengal tiger. The Twentieth Century Fox release is due in theaters November 21st.
