Oscar Nudity: Double Nominees Show Award Winning Skin [PICS]

For a Hollywood actress, the ultimate double shot is being nominated for two acting Oscars in the same year (unless you’re Lindsay Lohan , in which case the ultimate double shot is lifting two bottles of tequila at Discount Liquor Mart). Here’s a sampling of our favorite ladies who’ve received this rare honor: Ravishing redhead Julianne Moore is the most recent nominee on our list, nominated in 2002 for her roles in Far from Heaven and The Hours . But you have to go back all the way to 1993 for a glimpse of her famous firecrotch (and buns) in Short Cuts . Also in 1993, Holly Hunter received two nominations for her roles in The Firm and The Piano . We get firm thinking about tinkling Holly’s ivories, shown here in glorious rear view in The Piano . Icy British beauty Emma Thompson was nominated the same year for her roles in The Remains of the Day and In the Name of the Father . Mr. Skin will spend the remains of this day reminiscing about Emma’s rack in The Tall Guy (1989) . 5’10” glamazon Sigourney Weaver was nominated in 1988 for her roles in Gorillas in the Mist and Working Girl . Sigourney didn’t show her beaver in those films, though she played a lady of the night in Working Girl , but she graciously compensated by flashing full frontal in A Map of the World (2000) . Mr. Skin’s favorite pair still comes in mammary form, but we’re willing to be flexible for you, ladies! Stay tuned for more Academy-Award winning nudity all this week on the Mr. Skin blog !

The Godfather Part IV Isn’t Happening, Says Talia Shire

It’s getting to be late in the day on Friday — at least here on the frigid East Coast — and that means silliness. So, Talia Shire, will there be a fourth Godfather film coming to theaters in the near future? “I doubt it,” she said on Thursday night at The New York Times ‘ Film Club event in Los Angeles. “It makes me sad; we are not making great movies anymore.” Dammit! That movie that isn’t real that no one even imagined would happen isn’t going to happen? Way to put a black cloud on my weekend. Nino Rota, take us out . [ THR ]

5 Times the Golden Globes Got it Right (and the Oscars Didn’t)

Three reasons to be excited for the Golden Globes: 1.) Tina Fey may give a speech; 2.) Ricky Gervais may enjoy the longest broadcast chucklefit since Ed McMahon left the air; 3.) Every once in awhile, the Golden Globes award the right people and the Oscars don’t. Join us for a stroll into Golden Globe past, where it turns out the HFPA sometimes — sparingly, mind you — executes better judgment than AMPAS.

Serpent Eats Its Own Tail: A Ghostbusters 3 Development Timeline

At this point, you might have an easier time indexing every bit of information in the latest WikiLeaks cables than sifting through the last 10-plus years of rumors surrounding Ghostbusters 3 . And then, today news hits that the movie is indeed still in development, but not confirmed for production because… Bill Murray hasn’t signed on yet. Okay, so Aykroyd’s on the radio reassuring everyone about the sequel and Murray’s keeping his distance. Has anything at all changed since the beginning of this ridiculously over-hyped and probably unnecessary project? Just to double check, I waded through pages of old news and rumors to construct some sort of working timeline about the film’s development. Might want to take a painkiller in advance for this post.

Dan Aykroyd Confirms Ghostbusters 3 Rumors

Speaking to WGN Radio Chicago, Dan Aykroyd threw some fuel to the Ghostbusters 3 fires, confirming that not only is the new movie already casting, but there a lot of “strong possiblities” being considered. Along with the return of Sigourney Weaver and Bill Murray, Aykroyd revealed that they’ve also been looking at Bill Hader (great!), Anna Faris (yay!) and Eliza Dushku (must we?). While part of me is buoyed by a return to the Ghostbusters world, the part of me that saw the last Indiana Jones movie is wary of film franchises that return after a long, dormant period. [ /Film ]

Sigourney Weaver Deconstructs Disasterous Belo Monte Dam in ‘Defending the Rivers of the Amazon’ (Video)

Image via Ecorazzi Brazil has received a whole lot of negativity regarding the Belo Monte dam. The $17 billion complex would divert nearly all of the flow of the Xingu River, a massive river known for its biodiversity, to generate hydroelectric power. A new video narrated by Sigourney Weaver illustrates through a 3D tour using Google Earth video the catastrophic social a… Read the full story on TreeHugger

Sigourney Weaver’s Sour Grapes

When a famous actress delivers an unusually candid quote to a foreign news site you’ve never heard of, it’s only fair to think that something may be lost in translation. At least, that’s the only explanation I can think of for this: “Jim [Cameron] didn’t have breasts, and I think that was the reason [he lost the Best Director Oscar],” Sigourney Weaver supposedly told Folha Online, a Brazilian news site. “He should have taken home that Oscar…In the past, Avatar would have won because they loved to hand out awards to big productions, like Ben-Hur . Today it’s fashionable to give the Oscar to a small movie that nobody saw.” [ HuffPo ]
